[the Hannibal series is] a pretty male world. […] So, I just thought that we need more female energy because I love writing for women and it was just too male. The piece needed women.
I was surprised at the demographic that the show was reaching. A significant portion was young, smart, well-read women; they really responded to this show and I typically relate to young, bright ladies. It was nice to see how enthusiastic and passionate they were.- Bryan Fuller
“We don’t read and write poetry because it’s cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for.”
